Yellow Beauties

A few weeks ago, when I was in New Hampshire visiting my Great Aunt, I came across my favorite thing in the entire world – the shoe department.

You see, I have an obsession with shoes. For the last three years, I put away my high heels and embraced the fact I would never, ever wear them again. Not because I didn’t want to, but because my body and my arthritis decided against the idea. So, for the past three years, I’ve collected the most amazing pair of flats, if I do say so myself. I love my flat shoes so much, I made them my key feature in my current Boston bedroom. After all, my shoes are way too pretty to be in my closet. They are my art.

Now, when I walked into the shoe department, I was entranced by these beautiful yellow shoes. I always wanted yellow shoes. Perfect for summer and the pair that just smile back at you when you are feeling a little down. This pair has little leather straps that crosses over your ankles, buckles that holds it in place, and of course, a fabulous flower to compliment your perfect pedicure.

The downside? 3 inch heels.

What was a girl to do? Well, they were originally listed for $165. Don’t get me wrong, I love shoes, but I’m also a frugal girl. If I can buy more shoes with my money, I will. These beauties were even more attractive at a price of $65! It was practically calling me.

So, I tried them on. A little wobbly at first, because it’s been so long, but it was like getting back on your bike. It was like getting back on your heels! The memories flooded back in. My calves looked amazing, my butt looked amazing, and I felt GORGEOUS. I felt 29!

3inchheels But, how did my feet feel? Well, the only way I was going to purchase them was feeling and knowing how my feet felt. I grabbed the box and continued to walk around the rest of the store with the shoes on. Standing in them, walking in them, browsing in them. Nearly a half hour later, my feet were fine. My legs were fine. I felt amazing.

I bought them.

That night I wore them to my Great Aunt’s 93rd birthday party and I felt like I was on top of the world. I ordered a Lemon Drop and smiled the whole night because I was wearing these amazing shoes. We got home, I took off my shoes and my feet felt great!

About a week later, I wore them again. This time, all day. The true test. How was my back going to feel? Was it just a fluke? Or was it really possible?

I can proudly say – I wore them all day. Not a pinch, not a sore, not even a crack. I felt amazing. I felt 29.
