Smoothie Me

About a month ago I caught a summer cold. I hate colds in general, but I really hate them in the middle of summer. Now, typically when I get a cold, it latches onto me and stays weeks.

One of my biggest struggles fighting a cold is the fact I usually lose my appetite. I think it slows the recovery process down because I’m not getting the nutrients I need to help my body fight and defend against the bad bugs. So, how to solve this dilemma…

I made a smoothie. Well, let’s back up a bit.  Back in January, I came across an Instagram photo of a 30-day challenge. I signed up, started off great, and then the Boston move happened. I never finished the challenge, but I loved every smoothie I tried.

So, once I got sick, I went back to the recipes, tried one and I felt like a kid who was eating popsicles all day. It was a fabulous summer treat, but the best part is I felt a lot better after 3 days. Something which is unheard of when it comes to me and colds.

So,when Simple Green Smoothie had another 30-day challenge, I signed up. I can honestly say I’ve had at least one Simple Green Smoothie a day. Well, except for 4th of July, but that’s because finding a blender was impossible and believe me, I felt the effects of not having my daily smoothie.

The best part of this challenge is that I didn’t need a fancy blender to start, frozen fruits are allowed, they use at least 2 cups of spinach or 2 cups of kale in every recipe, it doesn’t taste like a green smoothie, and it’s all simple, whole ingredients. No mixes, no potions, no gimmicks you need to buy.

Don’t be weary of the green. LOVE THE GREEN!

Now, recently I added a protein powder to the mix to give me that extra boost in the morning. I’ve never used protein powder before but my friend recommended this one to me and so far I really like it. One reason why I decided to try this protein powder over the others is because it’s USDA Organic, NON GMO Verified, Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, and Soy Free.

If you’re looking for a summer treat that keeps you cool in this heat, I highly suggest you look into the Simple Green Smoothies. Here’s a link to their recipes.

Every so often, I’ve been posting pictures of my daily smoothies on Instagram, so if you get on this band wagon too, be sure to stop by and let me know what smoothie you’re trying. :)

I love mine with shredded coconut and chia seeds. What’s your favorite thing to add to yours?

Much Love,

Simple Green Smoothies did not compensate me in any way for this post. I just really like their smoothies. :)
